Our Minervois expresses the sun-filled and spicy personality of the Mediterranean Syrah in harmony with the old Grenache softness from Pépieux vineyards and the intense Carignan.

  • Description

Most of our selections come from the dry area of Les Mourels and Les Coteaux which extends from Caunes to Aignes, where the wines on slopes grow hand in hand along with the garrigue on sandstone soils, less sensitive to dryness. In the western village of Caunes, Syrah are planted on cooler places which take advantage of the first oceanic influences. Growing on limestone clay soils, Syrah is able to withstand to a dry year thanks to the clayey subsoil water retention capacity.

  • Sources

La Livinière, Pépieux, Siran, Aignes, Caunes

  • Vintage

In red, Syrah have a nice flavor profile and early varieties are often more successful in an accessible and gourmet style. The ripeness was more difficult to reach on Carignan or Mourvèdre which didn’t get optimal richness and moreover, in some areas, suffered from “Cévenol episode” that damage the hillsides early October. In Languedoc, 2014 offers fresh and fruity wines with high natural acidity. These conditions especially favor the whites and rosés that show aromatic and elegant at once.

  • Terrior

The area widely benefits from Mediterranean influences, it is the warmest part where soils are mostly sandstone and stony terraces. North East part of the appellation, extending from 200 to 500m in altitude, with limestone and limestone clay soils. Faraway from the last oceanic influences and not yet benefiting of the Mediterranean Sea, vine here, planted mostly on sandstone soils, is very early ripening and produces rich and concentrated wines.
